Is IPL worth following?

I don't think so. Why...?

1) It's not a premier tournament anymore. IPL champions mean nothing and many of the world's best are bot even playing.

2) Politics & Money. Big time. Each coz of the other.

"penalised for allegedly trying to negotiate terms with another franchise" - So who creates such rules and punishes - like others are children?. Can a player not decide his worth?. Their answer is NO. You can be whatever, but will be reduced to nothing if you don't play ball with us. The triumph of the Kaminey ;)

If Ravindra Jadeja [below, whom i consider has a HUGE potential] doesn't dance to their tune, his whole future - incl his place in any of the format - in the international side is under jeopardy. How can he comment?. And why the monopoly, having successfully sidelined ICL which kinda started it all?. If IPL is a purely commercial enterprise (which is how it should be), it should have nothing to do with BCCI or ICC or any of the participating player's fate. Should compete in the market just like any other private company. That's not going to happen in the foreseeable future. So what's the point?.

3) Why do people watch?. We want to see something real. Sports has it's own rules and governing bodies and limitations and what not - but still, there are various moments - though it can not happen consistently - when players come into their own - and you can feel what it means to be real - which is the fun part, for following it. Watching and feeling the true spirits in action.

Q. You mentioned tonight you played some amazing shots. How often are you genuinely surprised by some of the shots you come up with?

ROGER FEDERER: Well, I mean, quite often. Even though I know I can play really good shots and come up with great backhands, forehands, serves and volleys, and stuff, when you can really produce them in the most important stages of a match it's so rewarding and such a good feeling that all the hard work you put in in the off‑season is so like ‑‑ it's just a beautiful feeling, you know.

Then if you can start to hit a dropshot or dig in the corner and get the ball back that you think you would never get, but it's a match situation and the adrenaline is there and you just got that extra speed and you get the ball back and end up winning the point, it does still obviously surprise me even today.

That was after the match with Hewitt, in the AUS Open 2010.

When such a thing can not happen in IPL - with the best players going for their best and... it's like watching a movie knowing it's gonna be bad (with less than 5.0 IMDB rating). Or knowing life's gonna suck and still living it, stoic and hopeful. Or several other examples you would have / will come across, which is what we wanted to escape for a while in the first place... but then, is that not the world (and in fact, a lot more serious imperfections / maladies than sports) the young and everyone live in?. It's disturbing.

IPL = Sheer arrogance, no attitude and no vision. Probably why AUS/ENG/PAK etc., are put off by it. Sharukh said something and Shiva Sena made a nonsense-case out of it, as usual. Didn't pay much attention coz Sharukh, esp with his selection of movies, doesn't interest me much anymore. IPL is run by hooligans and goondas just like any other modern money making enterprise, may be in better looking suits ;)

Let's just conclude IPL is worthless ;)
