Kate Bush - Here comes the genius...!

Why Kate Bush?

"With her near-operatic soprano voice, ruminative and literate lyrics, and a very eccentric delivery, Kate Bush was years ahead of her time, pre-dating not only all manner of eccentric alt-rock to follow, but the so-called Women in Rock revolution of the early '90s. Tori Amos, Björk, Sarah McLachlan and Joanna Newsom all owe a huge debt to this pioneering British singer-songwriter." says amazon.com

I always thought Björk is the most original(among so many other things) artist but to know she grew up adoring Kate Bush...

The Aerial [2005] album. One day i was listening to some album and driving to work. The lyrics and way of singing and... i was like "who is this? and what album is this?". It was the song "Mrs. Bartolozzi". I can't describe the album. Either listen for yourself or read the reviews here.

It was 12 years in the making. It is musically rich. To quote "Using metaphors of the turning of the day and the flight of birds, she orchestrates a meditation on the cycles of life. Musically expansive, she weaves her compositions out of birdsong, subtle orchestrations, and jazz trios, showing herself at her experimental best."

It's remarkably original that nobody can even try copy it. Whenever i listen to it, all the other artists/singers seem like "hopeless little girls" while Kate becomes THE QUEEN firmly at the top...
